More of this – Berlin lies at the North Sea!

In this context and in the 2016*2017 Year of Seas and Oceans we developed this year’s themes for the 17th Berlin Fotomarathon together with our cooperation partner basis.wissen.schaft e.V.. Cities are marked by water in many ways: rivers are veins of live and passages to other cities, ice times scarred the surface. This year’s route took us northwards along the river Panke. Further down we have gathered some impressions of the day.

130 photography enthusiasts had registered for the 17th Fotomarathon, many took part with friends and family. Five participants competed in the newly set up category for smartphone photography. The start took place at Strandbar Plateau Mitte with bright sunshine – and right next to the water.

Fotomarathon x7 – international section
As in previous years some photomarathons around the globe have agreed on a common theme. This year the international theme is „Water in the city“. Every participating country will choose three winners out of your submitted photos. Those will then be shown in exhibitions in the other cities. This means the winners from Berlin will be shown in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Dublin (Ireland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Nice (France), Patras (Greece) and Shenyang (China). All pictures taken for the international theme as part of the marathon will be presented in the exhibition.

The themes
The list of the 12 themes related to this year’s motto „everything flows“ and the download for the handouts as PDFs can be found HERE.
