Fotomarathon Berlin at the
European Month of Photography
"1 City, 1 Hours, 24 Themes" - since 1998 this has been the motto used by the non profit Verein für Ereignisse e.V. to organise the Berlin Fotomarathon - a photo competition under extreme circumstances and a discovery trip at the same time.
During this year, the Berlin Fotomarathon celebrates its 10th Anniversary, convening around 400 photo enthusiasts from Berlin and other cities and countries in June 2010.

The Exhibition "Timetravel - 10x Fotomarathon Berlin" takes place within the framework of the European Month of Photography. It shows the winning series of the last ten years of Fotomarathons and is at the same time a comprehensive retrospective of Berlin as a city, an almost chronological unique documentation of a city permanently in motion. Thanks to our cooperation with Fotomarathons in other European cities, we can extend our sight towards Europe and see the 2010 winning series of Cardiff and Copenhagen.
The catalogue of the 4th European Month of Photography will be available at the exhibition.

Fotomarathon Berlin in short:
Within 12 hours, participants must develop a 24 photo series, based on 24 given themes. The kick: the themes are only revealed at the start, and later in further meeting points, and must follow the given order. Spontaneity, creativity, persistence and a passion for photography come into play. It is not the quickest who wins this Fotomarathon, but those who are witty, quick, spontaneous and decisive - and can shoot a consistent photo series. Every year, the Fotomarathon portraits the dynamic life of the German capital. The Result of this long creative day is a unique and diverse declaration of love to Berlin.
